kind of kicking myself for how the day went. I woke up late at alisons house cuz i stayed up way late for new years, and then i packed up my stuff and drove to cedar. When i got here, i fell asleep and when i woke up it was almost 6:00 and dark outside. it scares me to run in the dark alone, and i almsost didnt go out at all, but i went an easy 4 which was not nearly as far as i would have liked to go. Oh well.

AM- 8 Miles. Ran from my house to Home Depot and on the trail that we normally do whistle hills on. I wanted to keep following that trail cuz I’ve never been that far. It was nice and hilly so that was hard, but it was actually really a cool place, I definitely will go up there and explore more cuz there were lots of turnoffs and it was pretty. 

Excited for people to come to cedar. As much fun as being here alone is, it isn’t. Also I miss everyone 

PM- 2 miles down main street. Pretty chill miles. Some lady was walking the absolutely most beautiful Huskey I have ever seen. I want one

7 miles. i was very unmotivated to get out and run today. I watched way too much Friends and finally got out at 2:00. 7 miles chill. and then my mom came up to help me with some stupid scholarship stuff. I didnt get a large chunk of my scholarship from this semester and last semester and ive talked to the school multiple times but nothing has been fixed. Its amazing how much help a parent is. its finally all figured out now, so thats dope.

After, my mom had the marvelous idea of going to sushi burrito which i was definitely okay with cuz i love that place so stinkin much. We just chilled and talked about ellies life. it was a good time.

AM- 7 Miles. I ran down main to canyon view looped around by the hospital and to mi casa. I threw in 10x1 minute pickups to get the legs moving down the hill and on the way back up the hill,  my goal was to stay under 8:00 which wasn’t near as bad as I thought it would be. It was a good run. 

I had oatmeal for breakfast and I threw in some banana and it was so good! I’ve never been a HUGE fan of oatmeal but I think I’ll be eating a lot more of it now

PM- 2 mileage chill. 

Drove home for a dentist appt and to pick up someone from the airport. When I got home my mom was in a conference call but all the people were on mute except one so she told me I could play the piano. Anyways, while I was just playing away, he unmuted everyone and apparently I sound really good (hahahah not really)  cuz they thought my mom was in a piano bar. So if you have any piano bar music playing needs, hit me up

AM- 8.5 with sam and kasey. I went over to sams to run and tour their house and it’s so cute. And when we went out to leave, kasey came out to run so he just ran with us. It was a good time. I have missed running with people and sam. I love her.

AM- very easy 2.  Happy first day of school again!! I’m so excited for practice this afternoon!!! I’m tired of running alone. Also I’m so excited to start racing soon!! 

Last night I made cupcakes at Sams. They were delicious. 

Also I learned this card game called bang. It’s a good time and I highly recommend it. 

PM- 6 Miles with 15 striders after. We were hauling and averaged about 7:10. It was a good run and nice to be back. 

Hot tubbed with the freshman and we also had a recruit and played games with him

Am- 2 Miles chill 

6 minute test this afternoon 

Pm- yayaya for the 6 minute test!!! I was nervous out of my mind! For some reason I kept getting this wierd fear that i was not going to make it passed the 1600 meter mark. Anyways, we warmed up 2 Miles and then did the 6 minute test. I wanted to just go a good pace and see what I could do but after 2.5 laps I was feeling good and was running near girls I haven’t ever really ran by. I ended up finishing 1700 meters and close  to Julieta, Madison and Brighton so that made me happy. I also feel like there was more there at the end and I’m so excited to race and get into faster stuff again!! 

Pumped for Idaho this weekend! I’ve never ran indoor and I’m pumped for that and I also am just excited to race!!!

Missed my alarm this morning so i did all my miles in the afternoon. i had looooots of classes today and im slightly stressing cuz im gonna miss ALOT of fridays. 

We all have "biweekly" meetings with coach, but actually he means bimonthly but still keeps calling it biweekly. I apparently am going to be a steepler now. Im lowkey realllly scared cuz i dont think i will make it over them without dying, but hopefully ill catch on.

Pm- 5.25 in the canyon with a group of girls. Felt pretty decent. averaged 7:19

Team meeting to discuss lots of team stuff. it was long, but i missed part of it cuz i didnt know where the heck i was going. 

PPM- 3 miles with alison, christian, and maximus. it was a good time and a really fast pace, so i chilled it out a little. averaged 7:06

 

We got a new weights coach, and although he is cool and probs knows what he is talking about, i miss the old one and the actual lifting. all we have done is core stuff, and although that is great, i wanna actually lift or else i need to buy a gym pass. Hopefully we will actually lift in the next few times.

AM- steeple practice this morning. Mostly we just did some drills and flexibility stuff. And then we jumped one hurdle and videoed it so we could compare the first one to what we look like in the Future

2 chill miles after 

PM- 7.25 Miles total/// so we had a 60% today. Coach split us into 2 groups and of course he stuck me in the slower one... anyways, me and KaSandra and Sarah were way in front of everyone before we even hit a mile of the tempo. So coach stopped us for a sec for the other group to catch up (cuz they started behind us) and then we got to run with them :))) I hung in there pretty much the whole time!!! I lost them on then uphill, but I got back up on the downhill!! I would fall off a  little but everytime I caught back up!!! I have never done that before and coach told me I always get tor in with the A group!!!!!!!!! Also Angie is seriously the nicest and was helpin me stay in there and everyone kept yelling at me to keep coming and it made me feel so happy and needed. Yayayayayyayayayayayayayya!!!!! Also 15 strides after. Then rolled out and jazz 

I wanna travel so bad next cross season. Ill literally do anything

AM- 4 Miles for practice. We had premeet so 2 Mile warm then A 400 at mile pace then starts and strides and a mile cool 

Just chillin in the bus for 7 hours on the way to IDAHO. Can’t wait to race tomorrow. I’m running the 4x400 and the mile. 

PM- made it to Idaho!!! Ran 3 Miles chill with alison and then Christian joined us the last half mile. It felt really good and we went a gooooood pace that wasn’t too fast. Then we went to dinnner with the freshman. Alison lost all her travel money so we had to backtrack to try and find it. We never did.

8 Miles today all around and kinda choppy but it’s fine!! First indoor meet of the season! ‘Twas a good time. I ran the mile and it was pretty decent! Best I’ve ever started out a season. I lost track of the laps real quick cuz it was so many but it was fun! I also don’t love the wood track or the bank. I almost fell off on the 6th lap and it scared me a little. Ended up 5:24 which would be about a 5:17 (they always convert everything and it’s so wierd to me lol) but converted that’s faster than I’ve ever ran before and I felt real good about it. Also I ran the 4x4 which was a good time lol. Nothing spectacular but it was fun. Coach said we’ll probably do it again at NAU, which hopefully means that I get to go there which would be dope!!!

8 Miles with ellsbells!!! She came to cedar yesterday and we went hammocking and went to a devotional and then some people came over and played games. It was a good time. Then she went to bed and everyone else watched hitch at josh’s (quality movie that I think I’ve watched 5 times in the last month). Anyways, she was gonna just come up for the day but she ran out of gas lol and didn’t want to fill up (also she didn’t bring any money) so she spent the night and we ran this morning. 

Ran out to Home Depot and on the trails behind there. 8 chill Miles. She got this wierd pain the last mile in her abdomen and couldn’t breathe. It was really wierd. I hope she is a-okay

Am- steeple practice at 7. Getting a better hang of things so that’s good! 2 Miles chill after

Pm- pretty much the toughest workout of my entire life. Coach also stuck me with the A group. So we did a mile warm and then a 3k at 85% hitting 88’s every lap. Which for me, is barely slower than my 3200 race pace last year. I hung on pretty well until the last 2 laps then I fell off and Morgan also fell off and we worked together for a bit. Then we had 90 seconds rest and did 14x400. The first 6 were supposed to be at 5k pace, the next 5 at 3k pace and the last 3 at 1500 pace. To say the least the first 6 were decent and the next 8 I played a game called see how long you can stay on the group before you die and fall off. Usually that was about 200 meters. The last 8 were very consistent tho. I hit 85/6 almost every time lol which was way slow but it was fine.  At least I did the whole thing without dying.

Coach had on this cologne at practice and every time I ran by I thought I wasn’t gonna throw up. It wasn’t a gross smell, but it definitely did not settle my stomach well while running lol 

Tried to ice bath after and made it a whole minute. I had enough pain for the day.

Also found out I’m racing the 3k and the mile this weekend at NAU so I’m stoked for that. 

Also I had more important news but i forgot it so I’ll keep you posted if I remember.

7:15 to 7:45 In Theory, but actually it’s just however fast the front girls are going. To stay in the a group, you pretty much just have to keep up. Generally it’s closer to 6:50-7:10

2 Miles and then steeple practice. Getting much more comfortable going over the hurdles. If anything practice is helping me regain a little flexibility which should help my piriformis continue to heal cuz most problems from that come from a loss of flexibility. Which all makes sense cuz I have lost lots of flexibility after I quit dancing

Happy birthday to my good friend Maximus. He’s a cool dude and we went bowling for his bday. I bowled two strikes in a row, and bowled the top score of our first game. But our team (me josh max and Julieta) lost miserably both times to the other team

Mile warm and drills and stuff. Then the mile. I was the last person in the fast heat so that’s always fun. We started sooo fast and I was ok through 3 laps and the last 2 I really died hard. My legs were so tired and felt kinda like noodles. I’ve never felt so tired after a mile. Ran a 5:36 which converts to a 5:26 which is decent. Only one person in the slower heat beat me so that’s good. Definitely not as good as last week but I’ll get there. Mile cool down

Mile warm and then the 3000. We were supposed to do it as a good workout. I was really strong through 6 laps, and ok the 7 and 8 one. My last 2 were a little strugglish but they were ok  I’ve got to work on opening my stride. Ended up 11:20 which converts to about 10:55 which would be pretty similar to my pr in the 3200 so I’m pretty happy with it. Excited to keep racing and see what I can do. Can’t complain about how things went considering the higher mileage and decently hard workouts. Cool to 8.5

7 Miles on the trails in flagstaff. They have the best trail systems and I wanna dig them up and put them in cedar. I also wouldn’t mind living there. It’s beautiful.

2 Miles of torture through the snow. Lived in the snow for like 45 minutes and I’m already struggling with it lol. My face was sooooooo coold. It’s so sloshy and wet 

Shout out to Dakota, who doesn’t blog anymore but used to, for scraping snow of literally every person on our team that traveled windows so that we could drive home when we got to the school. Seriously the nicest guy

Mile shakeout b4 practice and then practice. Well, becuase of the snow, we couldnt do our workout on the track cuz it was super went and kinda slushy. we got split into groups today and im a little confused about all the workouts but yeah. I was with the 5k group today with angie, julieta, sharlie, morgan, madison fruchey and ashley. We did 8x 3:30 minute pickups on the road with 90 second recovery. I was fine the first 3 and slowly got a little more behind. Its a good boost that coach believes i can run with the fastest girls on our team, but also a little discouraging cuz i am not quite as fast as them and get dropped alot. ill get there. finished to 9 miles after. 

I definitely need to be doing hw rn, but i stink at accomplishing anything. if worst comes to worst, ill just drop out of college and live in the library. no one would notice.

Am- Mile at steeple practice and mile afterwards. 

Pm- 7.75 miles: 6.75 miles @ 50% pace. honestly, one of the BEST 50's i have ever done. I felt so great the whoooole time. we did cross hollows and we averaged 7:10 pace even with the long hill at the end. I was cruising up the hill with maddy and it felt so AMAZING!! i can honestly say that i have never led the main group of girls, but i was today and it felt so great! after wards, we had 15 strides and i did mine with Sam. Ive been focusing on form (mostly arms) alot when i am running fast and i feel like i am getting decently better at it! 

Ice bath after with sam and emma. It was so cold but they have these cool feet warmers (like wet suits for your feet) and they are the most amazing thing ever invented cuz honestly the only bad thing about ice baths are my cold toes, but its wayyy more bearable with them on.

I am honestly beyond sore today and I have no clue why, started the morning with some yoga to try to loosen up. I may hit a mile shakeout before practice. We’ll see how the after noon goes 

Pm- 8 Miles total, 2 Mile warm, 5x500 meter repeats with 3 minutes recovery, and then 3 Miles cool with sam. I felt actually sooo good today! I was consistent and felt great. 94,95,95,98,95. He had me go with the 1500 group today and It was a good time. It’s a good confidence booster to go with them.

Just one mile this morning after steeple cuz my left shin was hurting me.  Iced for a long while after. I really don’t want to cause an injury

PM- we did the best thing ever today! we had just a 50% and it was so windy, and we wanted to go down hill, so we decided we wanted to run allllll the run down hill and with the wind. me and kasandra and sam each drove a mile and then sierra and marlee drove the rest cuz there were at half miles. It was a perfect mini ragnar!!! it was sooo fun!! shin felt a little better but still hurt. keepin it chill for the next few days. 

I fell asleep in our tiny chair and it was sooo uncomfortable, idk how i even feel asleep

My whole body was sooo tired  today which was a little frustrating, but I just keep having to remind myself that I can’t have a good run every day and I hadn’t had a bad run in a while. I ice bathed after. Also my shin stul hurt but not in comparison to yesterday. Kept the run to 6 cuz I felt so lousy and the 7:15 pace was killing me. Definitely haven’t taken a short easy run in a while.

11 Miles with Sam and Marlee. Kept it real chill which was super nice, maybe even a little too chill but it’s fine and I needed an easy day. Averaged 8:15 which is slower than I’ve gone in a loooong while but it’s still fine. Ran 8 Mile dikes, which is wayyyy better than 6 Mile dikes tbh, and then dropped off mar cuz she was doing 8 and then added 3 with sam. Overall good run. Nice to chill it out. Felt way better than yesterday. Ready for 4 days of speed next week

AM- 1.6 Miles in the morning. I was feeling really good. Hope our workout goes well today! 

PM- yayayayayayayay for workouts!!!! So i get to travel this weekend which is YAY, but since im racing this weekend, im not doing 4 days of speed which is a little sad cuz i was sooooooooooo pumped for it. So the group that is traveling did a 2 mile warmup, and then 2x1000, 2x800, 2x500, 2x200. It was seriously so good!!!! i felt pretty good the whole time except the 2nd 8 was a little rough. Anyways, cooled to 8.4 so that i could hit 10 :)

Also Kasandra had a bee on her and it scared me alot. I hate those things.

Also Anatomy might kill me over. I dont know what possesed me to take it during track season cuz we are already traveling alot and its only worse in outdoor. Its fine, ill get over it

I am really hoping to hit a 5:10 (or close to) converted so that i can go to the Husky Classic at UW next weekend.

AM- 2 miles and steeple

Pm- 6.5 miles. It was seriously so nice today, the perfect weather ever! it should stay exaclty like that allllll year. 60 degrees, minimal wind, perfect!!! anyways, 50 percent. I did 8 mile dikes, but cut back to make it 6.5 since i went 10 yesterday and im racing this weekend and i didnt want to go 10 again. 

We are leaving friday morning, racing friday night and then alllll saturday we just get to chill and go on a nice long run through the dope dope dope trails of flagstaff while everyone else gets to race. Think i might move there someday for the trails.

Yayayayayaya for finishing freaking hard workouts and feeling amazing afterwards!!!!!!! so today we did a mile warm and thennnnnnnnn 15x400 with an all-out mile after. we kinda split the 400's into different speeds. the first 5 i was consistently around 87/88 and we had 45 second rest. i could have gone a bit faster, but i didnt know how my body was going to feel on the last ones, so i kinda chilled and just wanted to hit the back end of the pace window. im glad i did. the next 5 i hit 84/85 which was right at the tail end of pace again. i hit 85 twice, which was a second slow, but it was still ok. we had 60 seconds recovery on these ones. The next 5 we had 90 seconds recovery. i hit 83's pretty consistenly which was good and once again at the tail end of the window. but im glad i chilled the first half of the workout because even though i was a few seconds behind the main group of girls the first half, i was still in the window and by the last ones i was with the group the whole time and picking off some of the girls who started too fast. Then we had 90 seconds recovery and then an all out mile!! i hit a 6:20 which isnt awful, but not great. then i cooled to 9 with sam. 

Shoutout to Angie for literally hitting my pr in the mile after 15 400's haha. shes so fast i hope i can be as fast as her someday. 

Also props to me for being one of only 5 girls to finish the whole workout. that made me really happy actually. I know im progressing and im so excited to see what i can accomplish with running.

AM- 2 Mile shakeout in page AZ. Speaking of az, ready to kick some tonight

Yayayayaya for racing!! Warmed up a mile and did our warmups. Then the race! I got the worst start ever but it ended up being ok. I felt smooth and got back up with KaSandra and just sat on her shoulder for most of it. I was with her through 4 laps and she kicked a little better than me. Ended up 5:14 converted and I am sooo beyond stoked!! That’s a pr and it felt sooo good and that’s off of a tough week of workouts and I felt like there was more. Definitely keeping the avocado socks cuz they are lucky. Excited for the rest of szn  

Cooled 4.5 with sam. She’s my favorite. We ran on this road that I ran on with my high school team once when we were going to nxr  I remember it real good cuz we were screaming Christmas songs at the beginning of November the whole run and everyone was laughing at us. It was a good time and a good memory to remember  

My shin is hurting from steeple. I need to ice it and take care of it ASAP

10 Miles in FLAGSTAFF with sam! Still have the best trails. It was a good run, but the last 2 my legs were sooooo tired haha. Good thing I’m done and just get to chill til Monday. 

Also it’s crazy to me that 10 Miles doesn’t really even feel long anymore. Like it used to be this huge long run that I dreaded every Monday morning cuz it was so long but it seems so normal now, and it’s also faster. Love how that happens.

no shakout this morning. not gonna hit quite so many miles this week, so i took this morning off. my legs were so tired today and i thought for sure we were gonna have a 50, but we didnt. 

2 mile warm, and then 3 strides. 5x800 and then 4x400. each of my 800's got slightly slower each time, and then the 400's were ok. the last 2 i got into it a little better, but not great. i was struggling a little today. my body was just tired, but it was still a decent workout. cooled a mile. cant complain about how it went. I finished the workout which is more than alot of other girls on the team, and ive had some great workouts the last few days. 

weights after was so hard! i was going a decent pace at everything and everyone was done soooo fast! i dont even understand!!!!

today was bread and soup night and i went with sam after weights. it was soooo delicious.

I have 5 tests this week. will see how this goes lol.

yesterday was the best day of my entire life. Went to church with macey and then she left before 3rd hour but i ran into julieta and maddie in the bathroom and so i went to their sacrament and it was a good time haha. then ate breakfast with julieta and max, cuz they only go to sacrament meeting. then i went hammocking with them and then i went to a dope superbowl party at francis's house. go eagles. then i went with sam and kasandra and nicole to this weird rock pile and we laid on it and looked at the stars and it was a good time.

I sometimes forget that the world doesnt revolve around me, and then sometimes i  just look up into the sky and it makes me feel so small and it humbles me a little cuz there is sooooo much more out there than just me

I almost forgot!! Adidas sent test shoes to some ppl on our team to try out and I got some and they are so dope. I wish I could keep them but I have to send them back in a while

2 miles and steeple. we did the pop out hurdles again today and im not sure why they are so much better, but they make my shins hurt way less. so i think im gonna stick with those for a while.

6 miles @ 50% pace this afternoon. coach set us at a very slow 50 and we failed. He told us we couldnt average faster than 7:25 and we failed lol. we hit a 7:15 which still felt pretty chill so that was nice. My low calves were soooooooooooooooo beyond tight i was dying!!!! when i got back my feet were asleep from them being so tight and it was the wierdest thing of my entire life. Rolled out and Rapid Rebooted and iced my shin. 

Went to dinner at Pastry Pub with macey and it was real good. good to sit and chat with her for a while. Now that we are roommates i feel like i see less of her than i did before which is weird, but it happens

6 Miles at 50% and then a mile of steeple jumping and then another mile after. My low calves were way tight again and my feet like fell asleep again. I talked to to trainers but they didn’t help much. We’ll see if it does it again tomorrow. It only did it the first 6 and then I took like a 2 minute break before the steeples and then I was fine. 8 Miles again. I accidentally slept through steeple today. I feel awful cuz I have nvr nvr nvr slept through practice before. 

Pm practice was good. We had 2 Mile warm, 3 sets of 5x400 with 30 seconds recover (sometimes they were a little long tho). Each set had 2 minutes between. The first set was very mentally tough, and I was struggling. But the next sets were solid. I felt smooth and strong. My average for all of them was 83.7 which puts me to run a 17:20 5k. So that’s dope. 

Rolled and am currently freezing my butt off in the ice bath.

8 miles again! haha its wierd cuz last week i ran more miles but i felt alot better, this week i have been pretty tired.

we had a workout again today and it was a 5 mile 60% on the track. it was very hard and my legs felt heavy and tired and i didnt feel very smooth. We did a warmup mile and then 2 miles on the track and then a mile on the mile loop and then 2 more. the first mile sucked rlly rlly bad and then it just progressively got better. the first 2 miles it was sam and me and sierra. the next one was me and sam. and the last two were good but hard cuz they were by myself. feeling good that i felt awful but still hit faster than the times i was supposed to be. averaged like 6;35 for 5 miles. not bad. 2 miles cool. 

Cant wait for this weekend. going camping and to the gymnastics meet and having a good time!

Oh. Also Mike Tait is so cool. He broke Cam Levins school record in the 5k and currently has the number one time in the ncaa for the szn. He’s so fast

One mile and steeple. My shin has still been bugging me so coach is having me back off the jumping a little. I jump a few times and then work on form stuff that doesn’t hurt as bad 

Cutting my mileage just a bit this week cuz it’s 4 days of speed and that’s the rule 

PM- mile warm, 8x1000 with one minute recovery. man, this was a frickin hard workout but i did it and i am getting closer to the group and it makes me soooo happy and all the coaches are noticing that i am getting faster and closer and it makes me happy cuz hard work really does pay off. Just gotta keep the PMA. 3:38,39,41,42,47,48,58,51. first 4 were pretty consistent and with the group. Now i just got to keep a solid pace the last half instead of dropping, but ill get there. The last ones are always hard cuz i always get tired and slow down a little, and the last ones, the fastest girls speed up alot and it makes the gap seem huge, but i only had one out of the time range so thats good.

Today was a harder workout for me. My legs were very tired. Mile warm and then 3xmiles with 2 lap jog between. 5:53, 6:09, 6:15 were my Miles. The first one was a little fast. I think if I would have chilled it out a little they would have been more consistent, but I wanted to hang with the group as long as possible. After the miles we had 9 whistle hills which were actually not bad. I felt better on them and I led a handful of them so that was dope. If I didn’t lead I was in that front group. I love hills and idk why but I do. Mile cool

Ps I’m pretty sure the point of anatomy is to see how many Greek and Latin words you can fit in your head before all the English ones disappear. Also it slowly kills you with stress. It’s fine

Wellll, I ran to steeple this morning and did drills and jumped like 7 times and then my shin hurt so I did some more drills and shin exercises. Then it was snowing crazy so I walked to Sams and she drove me home. Not much of a run but it’s fjne 

I went hiking in st George last weekend and I picked some creosote and put it in a bag with a wet paper towel and left it in my car and it still smells so good  I’m gonna leave it forever and keep making my own air fresheners cuz it smells so much better 

Pm- mile warm and then mile at 5:46 pace and then lap jog and 12x400’s  we were supposed to hit 78-84 and the first 5 were real good! I was with the top girls AND even led some repeats. Hit 81 on most of them. Then I missed the 6th one cuz I had to go to the frickin bathroom. 6,7,8,  were really good! 9 was a little slow but still an 84  10 and 11 were struggling, 86,88. The last one was on my own and a 84. So only 2 we’re out of range. Mile cool with Julieta. 

It makes me so happy when Paul or coach tells me good job cuz they don’t say it a lot, and when they do they mean it  

GUESS WHAT?!?! I GET TO RUN AT CONFERENCE AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!! I did not think I would get to go. I thought I would be the first person to get left here

Last day of speed!! Yayayaya. Finally! 2 Mile warm 4x400 with 4 min recovery, 4x200 with 2 min recovery, 8x100 with 30 sec recovery. Honestly I didn’t know how the workout would go cuz my legs were soooo tired but it went better than expected! I was in range for everything and was with the group the whole time!!!!! 72,75,72,74 were my 400’ s. Led the 200’ s and hit 31’s. I looooove 200’ s so stinking much. They are my favorite thing EVER!!!! Hundreds were good. Cool a mile.  Coach told me I am a “sandbagger” cuz I did so well today haha. He said I was holding back the other days and that I need to stay confident in myself. Glad he is getting more faith in me. I definitely didn’t think I was holding back any of the days, cuz I have been doing better than I ever have before and I’m so happy about that, but I know I am getting faster and that I actually can run with the top girls, I just have to remember that 

Also coach decided to enter me into the 3k at conference too!!!!!! Yayayayaya!! I’m soooooo excited!!!

2 miles with Julieta before we left. Sam and Julia joined us for the last little bit. 

Loong drive to flagstaff and then we went to the track for premeet. We ended up running 2 miles to the sky dome, and then a mile on the track and then drills. Since I am not racing til Saturday, I just finished 3 more miles on the track while everyone else did their premeet and I’ll do mine tomorrow. I’m pumped and finally feeling good again! Four days of speed is honestly sooo hard on the body, at least the first few times.

Am- 2 mile shakeout in the freezing snow. It’s cold. Ps, our hotel has the best potato’s 

Pm- came over to the track at 1:15 for premeet. i had to do it by myself cuz im the only one just racing saturday. Idk why i had to come so early, cuz i still wasnt allowed on the track and had to do all my mileage up top in the dome.  now im just chillin until the meet starts haha. 3 mile warm, and then 4 pickups along the straights in the upper part of the dome, cuz its hard to do pickups around the corners cuz there is a blind corners and you never know who is there haha. finished miles to 6. Rapidrebooted afterwards. 

It is very snowy here. I hope we make it home alive. also sad day cuz my dad cant come anymore cuz of the snow. stupid inclement weather. oh well. 

Also, i love our jumping coach so much. he is so cool. he is kinda old and went to the olympics and paces around with his hands behind his back all the time and makes funny jokes and his name is uzzie and it doesnt get better than that haha.

Wellll, I'm not complaining, im just.... complaining.  Lets just say today was definitely not the best workout ever. it was the first day back since conference and We had a 2 mile warm, 4x400, 4x200, 8x100, which doesnt sound bad, and ive done it before and really liked the workout alot. So i thought today would be good, but it was so unbelievably windy. i have never actually thought i was going to blow away until today- like for reals. My legs were so tired and heavy, and all the great workouts ive been having made me very discouraged cuz today was not one of those days. 

I know its partially my own fault, cuz i havent been great at sleeping this week, or drinking alot of water or eating super healthy cuz i tend to slack a little when we dont have organized practice. i also dont think it helps that i took a couple days off and only did easy runs, cuz sometimes it takes me a sec to get back to the speed- hopefully thats just the case.  

And to top it off, apparently my form sucks so bad that i now get to do this super sloowwwww robotic walk alllll the way around the track after every practice now, which honestly takes like 20 minutes. On a normal day, this probs wouldnt have discouraged me, its just been a long one. 

On the bright side tho, Cam Levins is in Cedar for like a month and he told me good job (which was a lie) but ill take it cuz an olympian told me good job so thats cool.

Well, the time has come once again for another 4 days of speed. this time is better tho cuz we got to start on monday and friday we just have mileage and no practice. 

2 mile warm, strides, 2 laps slow right into 3 miles at 80% on the track. coach split us into 2 groups and he couldnt decide which group to put me in cuz im still borderline. he ended up going with the slower one which im honestly not too sad about cuz 80's are a real struggle for me and it was a good confidence booster. my time was right around Kasandra's and it was the best 80 i have ever ever ever done so thats lit. i felt pretty darn good today and i felt consistent and strong so i am very happy about that. 3x whistle hill sets afterwards. i love those things so darn much. they are the best thing that has ever happened to this world tbh. 

ALSO made spring break plans!!!! me and sam and koy and max are going to san diego on saturday wayyy early and staying til wednesday for koys birthday and im pumped. only problem, poop hit the fan last week and some wierd stuff happened and it could either be the best week ever or a super weird and awkward experience. well see what happens cuz i really wanna have a good time lol

mile warm, 7x1000 and then steeple barrier practice, my wierd robot walk around the track, 1.5 mile cool, and roll and stretch stuff.

The workout was decent. coach stuck me with the fast group today which is good! its just hard cuz he wanted me to do 8 repeats cuz im a 5k person, but the 1500 people were doing the same workout just cut in half and at a slower pace. I can do 8x1000's just fine, the hard part is doing 8x1000 at the same pace as angie. if i start a little slower i can hold on a little better at the end, but coach wanted me right with them. i did 2 right with the group just great the next one was still in range, just a little slower, but coach had me drop and do the next one with the 1500 group, which was good, only problem is they were finished after that one with their workout, so he had me sit one and jump back with the faster group. 

I hate cutting workouts but i think that i had a much more beneficial workout than i would have if he had me struggle all 8 with the fast group. 

Jumping the water barrier is the scariest thing of my entire life and coach houle just makes fun of me haha. its a good time.

It was honestly such a good workout today. I am supposed to be on a rotation of 2 5k workouts and a 1500 workout but today was the first time I’ve ever done a 1500 meter workout cuz coach always switches me. Anyways. KaSandra and sam didn’t do the workout and i dont know where everyone else was so it was just me and Alison that did the whole thing. We started at the slower end of the pace zone which was nice cuz it makes it sooooo much easier to keep the paces at the end. 2:03-2:06 on all of them which I’d say = consistent. 

I get that it helps to run with the fastest girls for as long as possible but I also feel like it is very beneficial for me to be able to complete a workout with consistent pacing  so today was very nice  

Botched my anatomy test today so that’s cool  never have i studied so hard and done so bad. We’ll see how the score turns out lol

It was nice tho cuz we started like 200 meters in front of the faster one so after about 3 Miles the leaders caught me and Emma and we finished near the group. welp, back to 0 for a couple days. went to steeple this morning and did all the stretches but my butt/back was wayyy worse this morning and i couldnt run. coach said to work it a little by rolling and stuff, but to chill out a little so it can heal, cuz ive been working it alot and now i need to just rest. 

As the day has gone on it has started to feel better, so that is a definite plus. hopefully i can get feeling better and back to running asap

FIRST FIVE MILER SINCE SPRING BREAK!!! it wasnt fast but it was 5! aveeraged 8:00 with sam. Its been forever since i have ran real mileage and it makes me so happy!

5 miles!!! it was also my fastest run of the summer, we averaged 7:24 which was good and fast. I was slightly dying but it was fun! i ran with morgan and sam and we just did mainstreet loop, I am finally up to a normal amount of miles i just need to work on not dying, but i also dont wanna kill my summer runs cuz we already run so many workouts and fast paces in the season

We did walmart canyon (i forgot the real name). we cruised the first 2 miles up the stupid long gradual hill to walmart and it felt good but i was tired and then we had the next 2.5 to just chill and go down the hills on the trail, thats my favorite part. then we went up the hill and i was literally dying. like i normally get tired up this hill but i just keep goinng cuz its fun to push it, but not today. it was harrrrrd but i did it and now i feel great and i fell asleep for a couple hours after, and i need to stop napping so long cuz then i suck at sleeping the next night. averaged 7:42 pace which is good considering the last mile was way slow up the hill haha.

Today honestly was my best run of the summer. it wasnt neccessarily fast or anything, like 8:20 average but i just slept in and chilled for a sec and just went out on my own which i havent done in a while. i didnt worry about pace and i ran to bicent and did some grass loops barefoot and some strides and it felt soo good! I definitely needed one of those days because i havent just felt good on a run in sooo long. it was actually a good motivator and reminder of why i like running so much. 4 miles and some world cup soccer. it was soooo lit. we each were a country and all played for ourselves. i lost miserably cuz i suck at soccer sooooo bad. then we played on teams so that made everything a little better haha.

spikeball sunday!!!! those are my favorite days where we all just chill and have a good time. it was beautiful outside as well. i brought my hammock to just chill when we werent playing. me and koy were a team for a little and i will say, we did much better than the last time we played. then me and max. hes good, as always so we made it to the championships and lost to josh and mike. then me and mike were a team and we sucked real bad (but it wasnt my fault)

we bbq'd after at the guys' house with a bunch of ppl. in the end, as usual it was just me and mike and max and koy and josh. we just chilled for a long while and it was actually a way good time.

Am- we started official team lifting today and it was actually way fun. me and alison were partners and its fun to be with her cuz we can be serious about something but also have a real good time.

5 miles afterwards, it was quite hot today. me and alison tried to do this loop up by the temple but i forgot where to turn so we got real lost and ended up at this real weird spot. it was a good time though. a few laps on the track afterwards. 

Pm- 3 with Sam. it was soooo nice cuz i was just taking a short nap on the couch and sam came in from work 3 hours earlier than normal so i got to run with her. it was also raining(thats why she came home) it was the best run ever! i love the rain so so so much! and its rained saturday and sunday AND monday!! its amazing!!

then my aunt caroline drove through cedar today so we went to dinner and it was a very good time

today was honestly the best run of the entire summer. something just clicked and it was so good. i didnt struggle to hit pace at all, in fact it felt so easy to even just go 7:15. i ran 3 and did a mile ana half barefoot on the grass. and then ran home. aside from the grass mile, my average pace was 7:15 which was wayyy faster than i have hit all summer.

Me and Sam and Alison and mike and Nate and Christian met up and ran razor backs. It was very hard but very fun, and definitely kinda slow. But was good to get out and just go because as of late I keep telling myself “I’ll go farther when I’m in better shape” and keep forgetting that the only way to get in better shape is by pushing myself. I’m going to be doing a lot more of that this summer because I do want to be good and I want to be committed but I have not done what it takes to be those things. So starting right here, right now I’m going to be better. Especially about eating and waking up and not pushing everything important to the side.

5.5 with Alison. And then we did some strides and ran back to my house. We took it pretty chill. My body was feeling so tired. Averaged about 7:40 

At 11;30 I went to the pool with max and aqua jogged for a half hour. We did 45 seconds hard 15 seconds easy. It feels good to go on occasion because I feel like I can get in a good workout with out putting so much stress on my body. I’m gonna start going a few times a week. 

Me and max and Alison and Nate went and played pickle ball for 3.5 hours and it was seriously so so so fun. It’s been a minute since I’ve played

Today was literally the best day of the entire summer. it was soooo fun. so i woke up and drove to enterprise for the 10k. literally no one was there, but its fine lol. I ran 42:00 which was a good tempo. 6:50ish was the average pace.  then me and scottie and my dad and bent and mikey ran around and I got to 8 miles. Then we ate breakfast in the park with my grandparents. My fam went for a drive up ox valley and we saw so many baby deer. they even still had spots on them! they were sooo sooo cute! We watched the parade and got so much candy and so many shirts and frisbees and ice cream sandwhiches and they even threw fidget spinners lol. 

Afterwards, i drove back to cedar and me and alison and max and nate went to toquerville falls and chilled for the afternoon. it was sooooooooo scary driving on the bumpy road but i didnt kill anyone. then we went to the park and played in the splashpad and some spikeball til max broke the net. 

Then we went to my house and changed and played a bunch of games until all my fam came over for a bbq, and Sam and Koy met us there too. afterwards we played the best game of ultimate of my entire life. I always love ultimate but that game was seriously the best game ever!!!!! then hommade ice cream and fireworks. It was the best :)))

I didn't set an alarm last night and was just gonna get up for work and do my run tonight, but my body woke up and its a good thing or else id hate myself for not getting up. anyways, sam had alread left so i was just gonna go do daisy loop to dikes before work by myself. A mile in i had to go to the bathroom and there was a portapotty and so i went and when i came out sam was running down the road!!! so i did most of my run with sam which was very nice cuz i did not want to be running by myself.7:55 was our average pace, and it felt good. the first few were real slow and by the end we were going pretty quick which was way nice. I still need a few more; ill hit them before the RODEO!!!

AHHHHH! its the best day ever!!! Me and Alison and Madison and Maddy met up with one of the new freshman today, Haley to run before weights. She is so so nice and sweet and i like her so much! and everyone is finally coming back!!

AM- today was  the road race. I couldnt sleep for whatever reason last night. I wasnt nervous or anything i just was having a hard time. Anyways, we got there and warmed up and everything and i was feeling good about it. I was super excited to go. I hung with haley/was pretty close to her for about 2.5 miles and was feeling great and then i hit a wall and everything was spinning and i was having the hardest/weirdest time running. I slowed down so hard so i could at least run and by the end i was barely running. it was so weird.

i ran a 26:36 which was over an entire minute slower than last year and there is no way in heck that i got that much slower.

Im so frusterated becuase i have been doing well in workouts and runs and the progression run was good, and to get basically dead last in the road race is just really annoying, but im not going to dwell on it and im going to kill it at UVU next week and prove to everyone, including myself, that i deserve to be here running.

Im so excited for the season. our team is seriously so good, and im excited to see what everyone ends up doing.

Josie, you're an amazing runner and an even more amazing person and Holt is right: you earned your spot on the team. You've already proven time and time again that you're tough and dedicated and you deserve to be here. That being said, there will always be ups and downs. It's a part of life. I know the road race didn't turn out how you wanted it to, I know you're disappointed, but you've got the right mindset: not to dwell on it and move forward. And just so you know, Coach definitely sees the potential you have. He can see how hard you work, how motivated you are, and how much you want to be here. I've talked with Coach a lot recently, all he wants is to have a team full of hard workers who actually want to be here. Who are grateful for the opportunities given to them instead of feeling entitled to everything. I know you're one he wants to keep around, I can see your drive and determination and I'm not even the coach, I'm not looking for it. It's already evident so don't even worry.

As for the road race, it was one performance and it doesn't define you. Coach is more understanding and patient than I think a lot of us give him credit for. He takes into account everything, not just the times or places we get. He looks for the deeper dedication and commitment to the team and to the sport. If he didn't, I would've been kicked off the team long ago. But I'm not a good example. Maddy would've been kicked off her freshman year due to her being injured the whole time. Sharlie was almost kicked off the team, too, but since my freshman year she's become more dedicated, and look where she is now. Don't you think Coach is grateful he was patient with both of them? Now they're some of our top girls and are killing it. That's why Coach is, in my opinion, one of the best coaches in the NCAA. Other coaches would not have been so lenient, would have cut both of them and missed out on developing them into the amazing athletes they are. That's why Coach is so lenient. That's why you're here: because he believes in you. He sees your potential. He knows you can rise just like they did.

My advice would be to look at the positives. What did you do well? Even though you felt awful, you still finished. Not everyone would. And even though you felt like you were gonna pass out, even though you were forced to slow down, you still finished ahead of where other girls in the past have finished. Remember: this year is the best women's track/xc team SUU has ever had thus far. To be a part of it is an honor. But don't get so caught up in comparisons with our current teammates, because the truth is they're all really, really great runners, most have had more experience than you, more time to develop. It's a process, and with time you can get there, too. But if you get caught up in the moment, in being good right now, in having to prove yourself every day, every practice, every race, you'll be disappointed. Take them as opportunities to improve, not as evaluations of your current fitness. The workouts we do are meant to help us improve, to raise our thresholds. We get out of them the effort we put in. If you're doing your best that's all that matters. Sure the road race is a way to see where our fitness is at, but like you said: it's obviously not an accurate measurement in your case and Coach knows that. Not every race or workout can be a stellar one. You're going to have bad days just like the rest of us. But as long as you're giving your best, that's all that Coach can ask of you, and all you can demand from yourself.

So on our run coach split us up into 2 groups and he put me in the slower one and I was so frustrated. But I talked to him and he just wanted me to take the 50% easy so the workout is good tomorrow. Yayayayay!!! So we split into morning and afternoon groups and for whatever reason I wasnt on either group but coach let me go with the fast group. We did 4x2k’s with one minute rest. From the beginning I told myself I was just gonna gonthe slow end and maintain the pace with Brighton. The range was 7:15-8:00. I hit 7:28,7:42, 7:41, 7:37. Im seriously so happy with it. It was the first XC interval workout I have finished in college!!! And I was in the range and on the last one I was passing ppl that were ahead of me the whole time. AND I RAN GOOD IN THE WORKOUT SO NOW I GET TO RACE AT UVU!!!

Today was a weird run...So we all started together and at the beginning angie and sharlie and brighton split off and went a different direction, and then a few miles in maddie and sam and alison went a different direction and then with a few miles left julieta and haley went a different direction. so by the end of the 8 miles it was just me morgan and madison. Uvu race today! 

Woke up and drove there at 5:30 in the van. Warm up and then race! Not gonna lie it wasn’t the best race I have ever had but it was definitely better than the road race by a million. They changed the course so we had to go up a hill 3 times rather than 2. It was a hard race but it was a good time. I’m glad I got to go. Shoutout to my teammates who freakin killed it.

2 mile warm up and then an 80%. this is such a tough workout for me. as soon as i lose contact with the group i struggle so hard to stay focused on running hard. it was at least consistent today. 18:54 was my time, which is 5 seconds faster than last time. 8.5 easy. coach decided to split us into "equal groups" today but it was me and sam and brighton and then everyone else. he made us wait 90 seconds before we could start running. we stayed the exactly same distance behind them the entire time lol. it was a good run. i enjoy running with those two because they are fun. 7:45 average. we did a new run today and it sucked. the last 4 miles were allllll uphill. just slightly, but enough that you could definitely feel it 

Brighton might quite possibly be one of the funniest and coolest people i have met. i never really talked to her last year but i really really like her alot.

Am- mile warm and then a 60%. It was definitely my best 60. I averaged 6:26 and I felt decent. I was with my group but I kept having to blow my nose so I had to slow down a few times. Aam- mile shakeout 

OH MY GOSH. This was the best race I’ve had in a hot second. Lately I have had a really hard time staying focused when I run but today I was doing really good at telling my mind to knock it off and stay focused. I ran 35 seconds fast than last year and a 18:21 for a true 5k. Not exactly sure yet. I’m seriously so happy with it and I’m so excited to keep running. Cooled some with Alison and some with Brighton. Seriously so so so happy. 

And for the first time i think possibly ever coach houle acted like he was 1000% happy with me. like actaully. He always says good job but this time you could tell he actually meant it. 

Also if i was in the championship race i would have been right with Haley!!! AHHHH im happy and there is still so much more. i know there is. I have so much potential, i just have to keep racing so i can figure out how to tap into it.

weelp, so i got ready to run and then we didnt even have practice this morning so i went back to bed with the intention of waking up at 8 and running a few miles before class, buuut i slept til past 9:00. then brighton sent out a text saying that some ppl were meeting at 3:00 to run so i ran to the track and waited. and waited. and waited. and then right when i was about to leave to just go do mileage by myself, sam finally showed up and told me that brighton was on her way. then brighton finally came at like 3:20 and told me she forgot to mention that they werent meeting til 3:30. then we waited and waited and waited til 3:40 when ashley hawks and angie came to meet us. 

it honestly was a good run, even though i waited for 40 minutes lol. we just went up canyon to get 6 and then we did strides and then i ran home.

I stayed with sam and haley the WHOLE time (except the last 2 they went a little crazy cuz they are FREAKING fast). averaged 82's which was as fast as alison and julieta so that was the best!! were were supposed to hit 84-87's and we hit 79-83's. it was the BEST

Paul texted all the people who are in the traveling group who aren’t traveling anymore and said we just had a 50% and I knew that the people who are traveling to conference had a workout so I texted Paul and asked if I could please please please go to practice and do the workout and he said yes. So that was dope cuz I really wanted to do it 

Pm- 8 miles. we had 3x2ks today. It was so good! We were supposed to hit 7:40-8:00 for all. Anyways, me Haley Sam and Brighton started together and Haley was killin the pace but we all just kinda hung on. Finished with 7:15. The next one me and Brighton lead. Once again the pace was fast so the last 2 laps I chilled it out a little. Finished 7:32. The next one sam was dying and I chilled for a sec with her to control the pace a little. But I also was feeling good so I just kinda let go and ran a little faster. I ended up passing Haley and Sam and was behind Brighton and finished in 7:45. It was the best! Never have I been In front of them at the end of a workout and it felt good! 2 cool with Alison. 

Another quality day. So excited to reap the benefits of hard workouts

Wet on wet on wet this morning. It wasn’t too cold but pretty rainy for the first mile. Then it chilled out there for the rest of my run. Then I did 15x strides on the track and that got pretty rainy again. Ran home and finished to 8.

Something is wrong with my watch and it’s making me mad. It kept telling Me I was running 13 minute pace for the first half of my run. Which I WASNT. And that a loop I’ve done like 100000 times was only 4.5 miles when I know for a fact it’s 6. After about 3 real miles it fixed itself and said the right pace but the distance was way off. Figured it all out and for the mileage before the strides I averaged 7:27. So that was good

Coach has put me in 3 group messages telling me I was going to mesquite for the workout today, one of which was a group of 3 people who are in the same boat as me-borderline travel. Then yesterday he sent a message to a huge group of us saying we are practicing on our own today. I probably should ask to see what I’m supposed to do, but I really really really want to do the workout so I’m just gonna show up and hope for the best. I do not want to be pushed into the group again that never has practice and never gets to do the workouts, I don’t feel like that benefits me at all. I start to get discouraged and tired of easy runs all the time. I like doing workouts. I’m starting to see improvements and even though I’m not racing, I want to keep trying and doing my best so hopefully I can kill indoor and outdoor. So as long as I can push to be in the practice group, I’m gonna. 

Pm- got to go to mesquite. It was freakin hot. I was melting just in the warmup. 2 mile warm, 2x1000,600,300. We were supposed to do 3 but I was dying. Just jogged with Brighton and Alison afterwards. A lot of people dropped early, so I feel less bad about it, it was just stupid cuz I have had 3 really good workouts but coach wasn’t there for 2 of them and then today was awful. But that’s the first workout all year I haven’t finished and every day can’t be great. Got to 7.75ish

Sooo, Coach lately has been letting the top 10 girls go to practice and I’m 11. I keep up in the workouts with Sam and Haley just fine but I still am not allowed. I still have wanted to keep training though so I did the workout on my own today. 

Mile warm and then an 80%. I was planning on doing 3 miles. And I ran down to canyon view and was gonna finish the last mile on the track. There was this guy there with these stupid little yapping dogs and they kept chasing me and jumping and trying to bite me and he did absolutely nothing. None the less it was making me mad so I stopped at a little over 2.5 miles and just stood so they would leave me alone. After about 5 minutes the guy finally made them go a way and at that point I just kinda kept jogging cuz I had been standing for so long. Finished to my house and had to add 1.5 to get to 8

5 miles today. im a litttttle bit frusterated beucase i have felt sooooo good all week and last and finally starting to feel good and not hurting (cuz my butt and hams have been bugging me i think from a combination of sitting so much for school, it being colder outside, and rebuilding for mileage). But i think a combination of hard weights and a faster run did it for me. my hamstrings hurt so bad. like my lungs felt amazing and i just wanted to go so fast but my legs wouldnt let me. i know if somethings going to be wrong, now is the time for it to be so beucase i have 6 weeks until the season starts, its just annoying. i was going so slow and my legs were just hurting to even move. 

stretch and pt exercises really good. ive been doing my pt every day and its seemed to be helpinng my piriformis not tighten which is soooooooo good. im grateful for that tremendously. my hamstrings on the other hand, i need to figure something out. 

i was gonna try and bump up mileage a little this week, but i think im just gonna keep it at 5-6 for now.

I slept in a lot a lot a lot this morning. I woke up at 6:30 and went to the bathroom and then slept til 10:45. I haven’t been sleeping Super great so it felt nice to actually sleep good. 

Also sometimes it worries me that This week I went 6-7 miles every day and I feel so tired. And I’m supposed to get to 10 a day.  But at the same time I thought this when I was at like 4 miles a day haha so I’ll be fine. I’m getting fitter and I can feel it. I just gotta keep weird tight muscles and body aches under control.

Am- weights. It was a goooood workout this morning. Thought about running til it was 8 degrees, so I pushed it off. 

Pm- 5 with Sam up canyon. It was a little slow due to the snow on the trail. Last year I avoided running through the snow at all cost, and stuck to the sidewalks, but it was actually pretty fun! It kinda felt like running through the sand, but it was way funner. I added two around the school and then ran to the gym to meet Ells.

Am- 2 miles easy down Main Street. I thought it would be colder but it wasn’t bad. 7:43 avg

Pm- 5 total. 3 with Alison on park loop and 2 on Main Street by myself. 

I’ve been feeling really good for the last little bit. I’m excited to bump mileage but I’m gonna do it smartly. I’ve finally figured out how to stay healthy and haven’t had anything major happen all year. My goal for track is to keep it that way (and hopefully for a long time). Super pumped for track come January! 

I’m so ready for school to be done. I have 5 tests in the next 8 days. I might just move to the library for a few days. Also. I think I’m gonna get my first non A in my whole life. Rip to streak

Am- 6 with Sam. I had the hardest time warming up this morning. My body felt really tired, and my muscles were not wanting to move, and my gut hurt. Finally started feeling pretty good at 4.5 miles but we had weights so I kept it to 6 miles. Kept the pace pretty slow (although it didn’t feel as slow as it was) Partly due to not warming up, but it was also pretty icy for a lot of it. 7:59 avg. 

Pm- 2 miles easy on the treadmill. 

Last day for the gym class! Woot woot! Also i finished all my assignments and papers and I only have 4 more tests and looooota to study for. Woohoo!

8 miles this afternoon. 1 on my own then met up with Sam and did 7 on dikes. It honestly felt soooooo good today, and I felt a zillion times better than yesterday. Added in 8x30 second pickups as well and those felt really nice. I’m getting fitter and I love it! 

me and christian made a gingerbread house and it was sooooo dope if i do say so myself. and we even beat alison and nate in the competition!

I have converted 2 people to the blog in the last week and I’m ecstatic!

8 with sam on cross hollows. I felt really good through 6 miles up heartbreak. Stopped at maverick to go to the bathroom. Then i started getting pretty tired the last 2 miles. I was pushing pretty hard but not going anywhere, kinda like those dreams where you’re running as fast as you can but are literally not moving an inch. 

2.5 with Christian. Felt pretty good. 7:22 avg. 

The ball of my right foot felt weird today. Like when I stepped and rolled up, it pulled my toe tendon underneath. Need to ice

5 miles up payson canyon with Alison. It is really pretty up there. It was not as cold as I thought it would be. But there was lotsa snow

7 miles out toward the airport. It felt soooo nice: my body, the weather, the foot, everything. I was just chillin and wanted to make it 7 without dying and to my surprise when I looked down at my watch I was hitting around 7:05 most of the time. With 2 left I decided I wanted to pick it up a little and make it a quicker finish. 6:30 and 6:35 for the last 2. 6:58 avg. 

Islands in the stream by Dolly Parton was Stuck in my head the whole time. Although it is a nice song, it got a lil annoying

5.4 with Preston in the morning on prospector. It was fun to run and catch up a little. It was hard. I had a tough time breathing for some reason. 8:17 average. Pretty decent for a trail. 

Went to Durango’s for lunch. I forgot how dang good it is 

3.6 with the PV Girls team. It was fun to catch up mostly with Addi. And fun to meet the new assistant girls coach. Missed coach robs tho, I thought I’d see him. 

Hiit workout after. It was sooooo hard haha but it was fun nonetheless. My foots Buggin a little again. I think it may be my black nike structures. Those are the shoes I wore when it began. And that’s what I had on this afternoon

Am- 6.5 miles to Sullivan and into hell hole. And then back the longer way. It took me a second to warm up but once I got going it felt nice! I picked some creosote.  I luvvvvv that stuff 

Holy cow! I have never been so sore possibly ever. That hiit workout got me good. My whole body hurt every time I tried to move in my sleep.

Am- Scottie wanted to run and Bentley wanted to wait a lil. So 30 minutes with Scottie and then when he was done, 30 with bent. It felt ok. My body wanted to go but my hamstrings are sooooooo tight. Hopefully they’ll feel a little better tomorrow.

Probably should have done some pickups or something but I think I’ll throw some in tomorrow instead. Not too worried considering this will be my highest mileage week in a hot second

Waited til a little later to run today. Finally got out at about 4:00. 7 up and down both sides of formaster with a little push up each side of the hill. 3xbathroom break, probably for the few too many treats I’ve had the last few days. thank heavens for porta potties, but I need to learn some self control in my eating habits. 

Scottie got his wisdom teeth out. He made me pay him 5$ to go to the dr office with him and he wasn’t even funny. Not even worth it and I’m a lil disappointed:/

9.25 with my dad on the bike. Drove out to green valley and ran home. It was nice to chat. But I’m mad he wouldn’t run with me. 7:30 average. It is a beautiful day. Too beautiful for december. I shoulda gone with a short sleeve shirt. 

We had our fam Christmas party and I learned a new game called code names. It was soooo fun. We also got some real winners in the white elephant exchange. Possibly some of the best ones yet

Am- 7 miles. The firsts few with my dad, Adam, Alli and Bent. They were kinda slow and then we picked it up a little bit once they flipped around. Me and my dad finished Atkin Loop and then around Nichols Peak. We had Duke with us so that was an adventure. I twisted my ankle while running the other day, and it and my Achilles has been bugging me. I’ve been icing a lot and sleeping with my straussburg sock on. And it is feeling much much much better but it’s still kinda hurting so I kept it kinda slow this morning. 8:00 avg

Am- 7 miles out to Sullivan.  35 minutes with bent and the rest on my own. It was beautiful this morning. The fog was just lifting and everything looked so colorful. It was cool especially since I don’t see fog much. Some guy talked to me about ketones and Ragnar when bent stopped for the bathroom. Kinda weird but he was nice anyways. Achilles is still a little bothersome but not bad. 

After my run I felt really blah. Not my normal self. all I wanted to do was lay around and I took a nap and I wasn’t hungry (which never ever happens). Not quite sure what was going on.

Pm- went sand sledding and jeeping. and then to my aunt Rachel’s after for hot chocolate. Ran home 3 miles from there with my mom. It was a lil slow but it was fun :))

Am- 9 miles around stone cliff. Body was a lil tired today, but it was a fine run. 3x2:00 pickups just to get going a little. 7:30 avg.  

Achilles felt so good the first 2 miles and then it slowly went downhill from there. Idk what to do about it. It feels good in my structures but those have been making the ball of my foot hurt. My Achilles hurts in my vomeros. But the ball of my foot feels good in those. It hurts my Achilles to go uphill. But the ball of my foot feels better on uphill. My Strausburg sock makes my Achilles feel so much better but it makes the ball of my foot bend, which makes it hurt. It’s either one or the other and it’s annoying. 

Pm- 3 miles easy with bent in Cedar on parkloop. Crazy afternoon
