kind of kicking myself for how the day went. I woke up late at alisons house cuz i stayed up way late for new years, and then i packed up my stuff and drove to cedar. When i got here, i fell asleep and when i woke up it was almost 6:00 and dark outside. it scares me to run in the dark alone, and i almsost didnt go out at all, but i went an easy 4 which was not nearly as far as i would have liked to go. Oh well.

AM- 8 Miles. Ran from my house to Home Depot and on the trail that we normally do whistle hills on. I wanted to keep following that trail cuz I’ve never been that far. It was nice and hilly so that was hard, but it was actually really a cool place, I definitely will go up there and explore more cuz there were lots of turnoffs and it was pretty. 

Excited for people to come to cedar. As much fun as being here alone is, it isn’t. Also I miss everyone 

PM- 2 miles down main street. Pretty chill miles. Some lady was walking the absolutely most beautiful Huskey I have ever seen. I want one

7 miles. i was very unmotivated to get out and run today. I watched way too much Friends and finally got out at 2:00. 7 miles chill. and then my mom came up to help me with some stupid scholarship stuff. I didnt get a large chunk of my scholarship from this semester and last semester and ive talked to the school multiple times but nothing has been fixed. Its amazing how much help a parent is. its finally all figured out now, so thats dope.

After, my mom had the marvelous idea of going to sushi burrito which i was definitely okay with cuz i love that place so stinkin much. We just chilled and talked about ellies life. it was a good time.

AM- 7 Miles. I ran down main to canyon view looped around by the hospital and to mi casa. I threw in 10x1 minute pickups to get the legs moving down the hill and on the way back up the hill,  my goal was to stay under 8:00 which wasn’t near as bad as I thought it would be. It was a good run. 

I had oatmeal for breakfast and I threw in some banana and it was so good! I’ve never been a HUGE fan of oatmeal but I think I’ll be eating a lot more of it now

PM- 2 mileage chill. 

Drove home for a dentist appt and to pick up someone from the airport. When I got home my mom was in a conference call but all the people were on mute except one so she told me I could play the piano. Anyways, while I was just playing away, he unmuted everyone and apparently I sound really good (hahahah not really)  cuz they thought my mom was in a piano bar. So if you have any piano bar music playing needs, hit me up

AM- 8.5 with sam and kasey. I went over to sams to run and tour their house and it’s so cute. And when we went out to leave, kasey came out to run so he just ran with us. It was a good time. I have missed running with people and sam. I love her.

AM- very easy 2.  Happy first day of school again!! I’m so excited for practice this afternoon!!! I’m tired of running alone. Also I’m so excited to start racing soon!! 

Last night I made cupcakes at Sams. They were delicious. 

Also I learned this card game called bang. It’s a good time and I highly recommend it. 

PM- 6 Miles with 15 striders after. We were hauling and averaged about 7:10. It was a good run and nice to be back. 

Hot tubbed with the freshman and we also had a recruit and played games with him

Am- 2 Miles chill 

6 minute test this afternoon 

Pm- yayaya for the 6 minute test!!! I was nervous out of my mind! For some reason I kept getting this wierd fear that i was not going to make it passed the 1600 meter mark. Anyways, we warmed up 2 Miles and then did the 6 minute test. I wanted to just go a good pace and see what I could do but after 2.5 laps I was feeling good and was running near girls I haven’t ever really ran by. I ended up finishing 1700 meters and close  to Julieta, Madison and Brighton so that made me happy. I also feel like there was more there at the end and I’m so excited to race and get into faster stuff again!! 

Pumped for Idaho this weekend! I’ve never ran indoor and I’m pumped for that and I also am just excited to race!!!

Missed my alarm this morning so i did all my miles in the afternoon. i had looooots of classes today and im slightly stressing cuz im gonna miss ALOT of fridays. 

We all have "biweekly" meetings with coach, but actually he means bimonthly but still keeps calling it biweekly. I apparently am going to be a steepler now. Im lowkey realllly scared cuz i dont think i will make it over them without dying, but hopefully ill catch on.

Pm- 5.25 in the canyon with a group of girls. Felt pretty decent. averaged 7:19

Team meeting to discuss lots of team stuff. it was long, but i missed part of it cuz i didnt know where the heck i was going. 

PPM- 3 miles with alison, christian, and maximus. it was a good time and a really fast pace, so i chilled it out a little. averaged 7:06

 

We got a new weights coach, and although he is cool and probs knows what he is talking about, i miss the old one and the actual lifting. all we have done is core stuff, and although that is great, i wanna actually lift or else i need to buy a gym pass. Hopefully we will actually lift in the next few times.

AM- steeple practice this morning. Mostly we just did some drills and flexibility stuff. And then we jumped one hurdle and videoed it so we could compare the first one to what we look like in the Future

2 chill miles after 

PM- 7.25 Miles total/// so we had a 60% today. Coach split us into 2 groups and of course he stuck me in the slower one... anyways, me and KaSandra and Sarah were way in front of everyone before we even hit a mile of the tempo. So coach stopped us for a sec for the other group to catch up (cuz they started behind us) and then we got to run with them :))) I hung in there pretty much the whole time!!! I lost them on then uphill, but I got back up on the downhill!! I would fall off a  little but everytime I caught back up!!! I have never done that before and coach told me I always get tor in with the A group!!!!!!!!! Also Angie is seriously the nicest and was helpin me stay in there and everyone kept yelling at me to keep coming and it made me feel so happy and needed. Yayayayayyayayayayayayayya!!!!! Also 15 strides after. Then rolled out and jazz 

I wanna travel so bad next cross season. Ill literally do anything

AM- 4 Miles for practice. We had premeet so 2 Mile warm then A 400 at mile pace then starts and strides and a mile cool 

Just chillin in the bus for 7 hours on the way to IDAHO. Can’t wait to race tomorrow. I’m running the 4x400 and the mile. 

PM- made it to Idaho!!! Ran 3 Miles chill with alison and then Christian joined us the last half mile. It felt really good and we went a gooooood pace that wasn’t too fast. Then we went to dinnner with the freshman. Alison lost all her travel money so we had to backtrack to try and find it. We never did.

8 Miles today all around and kinda choppy but it’s fine!! First indoor meet of the season! ‘Twas a good time. I ran the mile and it was pretty decent! Best I’ve ever started out a season. I lost track of the laps real quick cuz it was so many but it was fun! I also don’t love the wood track or the bank. I almost fell off on the 6th lap and it scared me a little. Ended up 5:24 which would be about a 5:17 (they always convert everything and it’s so wierd to me lol) but converted that’s faster than I’ve ever ran before and I felt real good about it. Also I ran the 4x4 which was a good time lol. Nothing spectacular but it was fun. Coach said we’ll probably do it again at NAU, which hopefully means that I get to go there which would be dope!!!

8 Miles with ellsbells!!! She came to cedar yesterday and we went hammocking and went to a devotional and then some people came over and played games. It was a good time. Then she went to bed and everyone else watched hitch at josh’s (quality movie that I think I’ve watched 5 times in the last month). Anyways, she was gonna just come up for the day but she ran out of gas lol and didn’t want to fill up (also she didn’t bring any money) so she spent the night and we ran this morning. 

Ran out to Home Depot and on the trails behind there. 8 chill Miles. She got this wierd pain the last mile in her abdomen and couldn’t breathe. It was really wierd. I hope she is a-okay

Am- steeple practice at 7. Getting a better hang of things so that’s good! 2 Miles chill after

Pm- pretty much the toughest workout of my entire life. Coach also stuck me with the A group. So we did a mile warm and then a 3k at 85% hitting 88’s every lap. Which for me, is barely slower than my 3200 race pace last year. I hung on pretty well until the last 2 laps then I fell off and Morgan also fell off and we worked together for a bit. Then we had 90 seconds rest and did 14x400. The first 6 were supposed to be at 5k pace, the next 5 at 3k pace and the last 3 at 1500 pace. To say the least the first 6 were decent and the next 8 I played a game called see how long you can stay on the group before you die and fall off. Usually that was about 200 meters. The last 8 were very consistent tho. I hit 85/6 almost every time lol which was way slow but it was fine.  At least I did the whole thing without dying.

Coach had on this cologne at practice and every time I ran by I thought I wasn’t gonna throw up. It wasn’t a gross smell, but it definitely did not settle my stomach well while running lol 

Tried to ice bath after and made it a whole minute. I had enough pain for the day.

Also found out I’m racing the 3k and the mile this weekend at NAU so I’m stoked for that. 

Also I had more important news but i forgot it so I’ll keep you posted if I remember.

AM-  1.5 miles very very very chill.

Also Maceys boyfriend dallin scraped my windsheild this morning before my class. Literally the nicest person i have ever met. 

PM- 5.5 Miles. Actually at 50%. Definitely didn’t take that for granted cuz that doesn’t happen a lot. average 7:18. My legs were sooo sore. Rolled out after. Then smoothies and now weights

2 Miles and then steeple practice. Getting much more comfortable going over the hurdles. If anything practice is helping me regain a little flexibility which should help my piriformis continue to heal cuz most problems from that come from a loss of flexibility. Which all makes sense cuz I have lost lots of flexibility after I quit dancing 

6 Miles pre meet. 2 Miles warm, 2x400 and the starts and cool down

Happy birthday to my good friend Maximus. He’s a cool dude and we went bowling for his bday. I bowled two strikes in a row, and bowled the top score of our first game. But our team (me josh max and Julieta) lost miserably both times to the other team

On our way to flagstaff for a meet. Way pumped. No shakeout this morning cuz we will do one when we get there. A little sad cuz I was asleep when we passed lake

Mile warm and drills and stuff. Then the mile. I was the last person in the fast heat so that’s always fun. We started sooo fast and I was ok through 3 laps and the last 2 I really died hard. My legs were so tired and felt kinda like noodles. I’ve never felt so tired after a mile. Ran a 5:36 which converts to a 5:26 which is decent. Only one person in the slower heat beat me so that’s good. Definitely not as good as last week but I’ll get there. Mile cool down

Mile warm and then the 3000. We were supposed to do it as a good workout. I was really strong through 6 laps, and ok the 7 and 8 one. My last 2 were a little strugglish but they were ok  I’ve got to work on opening my stride. Ended up 11:20 which converts to about 10:55 which would be pretty similar to my pr in the 3200 so I’m pretty happy with it. Excited to keep racing and see what I can do. Can’t complain about how things went considering the higher mileage and decently hard workouts. Cool to 8.5

7 Miles on the trails in flagstaff. They have the best trail systems and I wanna dig them up and put them in cedar. I also wouldn’t mind living there. It’s beautiful.

2 Miles of torture through the snow. Lived in the snow for like 45 minutes and I’m already struggling with it lol. My face was sooooooo coold. It’s so sloshy and wet 

Shout out to Dakota, who doesn’t blog anymore but used to, for scraping snow of literally every person on our team that traveled windows so that we could drive home when we got to the school. Seriously the nicest guy 

Also new high mileage week!!

Mile shakeout b4 practice and then practice. Well, becuase of the snow, we couldnt do our workout on the track cuz it was super went and kinda slushy. we got split into groups today and im a little confused about all the workouts but yeah. I was with the 5k group today with angie, julieta, sharlie, morgan, madison fruchey and ashley. We did 8x 3:30 minute pickups on the road with 90 second recovery. I was fine the first 3 and slowly got a little more behind. Its a good boost that coach believes i can run with the fastest girls on our team, but also a little discouraging cuz i am not quite as fast as them and get dropped alot. ill get there. finished to 9 miles after. 

I definitely need to be doing hw rn, but i stink at accomplishing anything. if worst comes to worst, ill just drop out of college and live in the library. no one would notice.

Am- Mile at steeple practice and mile afterwards. 

Pm- 7.75 miles: 6.75 miles @ 50% pace. honestly, one of the BEST 50's i have ever done. I felt so great the whoooole time. we did cross hollows and we averaged 7:10 pace even with the long hill at the end. I was cruising up the hill with maddy and it felt so AMAZING!! i can honestly say that i have never led the main group of girls, but i was today and it felt so great! after wards, we had 15 strides and i did mine with Sam. Ive been focusing on form (mostly arms) alot when i am running fast and i feel like i am getting decently better at it! 

Ice bath after with sam and emma. It was so cold but they have these cool feet warmers (like wet suits for your feet) and they are the most amazing thing ever invented cuz honestly the only bad thing about ice baths are my cold toes, but its wayyy more bearable with them on.

I am honestly beyond sore today and I have no clue why, started the morning with some yoga to try to loosen up. I may hit a mile shakeout before practice. We’ll see how the after noon goes 

Pm- 8 Miles total, 2 Mile warm, 5x500 meter repeats with 3 minutes recovery, and then 3 Miles cool with sam. I felt actually sooo good today! I was consistent and felt great. 94,95,95,98,95. He had me go with the 1500 group today and It was a good time. It’s a good confidence booster to go with them.

Just one mile this morning after steeple cuz my left shin was hurting me.  Iced for a long while after. I really don’t want to cause an injury

PM- we did the best thing ever today! we had just a 50% and it was so windy, and we wanted to go down hill, so we decided we wanted to run allllll the run down hill and with the wind. me and kasandra and sam each drove a mile and then sierra and marlee drove the rest cuz there were at half miles. It was a perfect mini ragnar!!! it was sooo fun!! shin felt a little better but still hurt. keepin it chill for the next few days. 

I fell asleep in our tiny chair and it was sooo uncomfortable, idk how i even feel asleep

6 Miles total. 2 Miles warm, 10x45 second pickups with 90 sec recovery and then cool to 6. My whole body was sooo tired  today which was a little frustrating, but I just keep having to remind myself that I can’t have a good run every day and I hadn’t had a bad run in a while. I ice bathed after. Also my shin stul hurt but not in comparison to yesterday. Kept the run to 6 cuz I felt so lousy and the 7:15 pace was killing me. Definitely haven’t taken a short easy run in a while.

11 Miles with Sam and Marlee. Kept it real chill which was super nice, maybe even a little too chill but it’s fine and I needed an easy day. Averaged 8:15 which is slower than I’ve gone in a loooong while but it’s still fine. Ran 8 Mile dikes, which is wayyyy better than 6 Mile dikes tbh, and then dropped off mar cuz she was doing 8 and then added 3 with sam. Overall good run. Nice to chill it out. Felt way better than yesterday. Ready for 4 days of speed next week

AM- 1.6 Miles in the morning. I was feeling really good. Hope our workout goes well today! 

PM- yayayayayayayay for workouts!!!! So i get to travel this weekend which is YAY, but since im racing this weekend, im not doing 4 days of speed which is a little sad cuz i was sooooooooooo pumped for it. So the group that is traveling did a 2 mile warmup, and then 2x1000, 2x800, 2x500, 2x200. It was seriously so good!!!! i felt pretty good the whole time except the 2nd 8 was a little rough. Anyways, cooled to 8.4 so that i could hit 10 :)

Also Kasandra had a bee on her and it scared me alot. I hate those things.

Also Anatomy might kill me over. I dont know what possesed me to take it during track season cuz we are already traveling alot and its only worse in outdoor. Its fine, ill get over it

I am really hoping to hit a 5:10 (or close to) converted so that i can go to the Husky Classic at UW next weekend.

AM- 2 miles and steeple

Pm- 6.5 miles. It was seriously so nice today, the perfect weather ever! it should stay exaclty like that allllll year. 60 degrees, minimal wind, perfect!!! anyways, 50 percent. I did 8 mile dikes, but cut back to make it 6.5 since i went 10 yesterday and im racing this weekend and i didnt want to go 10 again. 

We are leaving friday morning, racing friday night and then alllll saturday we just get to chill and go on a nice long run through the dope dope dope trails of flagstaff while everyone else gets to race. Think i might move there someday for the trails.

Yayayayayaya for finishing freaking hard workouts and feeling amazing afterwards!!!!!!! so today we did a mile warm and thennnnnnnnn 15x400 with an all-out mile after. we kinda split the 400's into different speeds. the first 5 i was consistently around 87/88 and we had 45 second rest. i could have gone a bit faster, but i didnt know how my body was going to feel on the last ones, so i kinda chilled and just wanted to hit the back end of the pace window. im glad i did. the next 5 i hit 84/85 which was right at the tail end of pace again. i hit 85 twice, which was a second slow, but it was still ok. we had 60 seconds recovery on these ones. The next 5 we had 90 seconds recovery. i hit 83's pretty consistenly which was good and once again at the tail end of the window. but im glad i chilled the first half of the workout because even though i was a few seconds behind the main group of girls the first half, i was still in the window and by the last ones i was with the group the whole time and picking off some of the girls who started too fast. Then we had 90 seconds recovery and then an all out mile!! i hit a 6:20 which isnt awful, but not great. then i cooled to 9 with sam. 

Shoutout to Angie for literally hitting my pr in the mile after 15 400's haha. shes so fast i hope i can be as fast as her someday. 

Also props to me for being one of only 5 girls to finish the whole workout. that made me really happy actually. I know im progressing and im so excited to see what i can accomplish with running.
